I love this fasinating old building at 119 Lai Chi Kok Road, Mong Kok (旺角荔枝角度119號). In my childhood, the ghosts there had haunted me for a period of time but certainly it was imaginary, just like many other ghost stories in historial buildings - a vintage construction is often reputable with some imaginary ghost stories.
Lui Seng Chun (雷生春), a Grade I historical building and one of the few remaining "tong lau", or Chinese tenement, buildings in the city, was officially donated to the people of Hong Kong on October 7, 2003.
(quoted from our government's newsletter, but I don't agree that 'tong lau' is 'few-remaining', it's so just because the government has never treasured them)
With some luck, I took by chance a number of its pictures before the building's renovations. See, its old look and feel does convince you that ghosts are playing there.
Fortunately it is saved and conserved by our government, but unfortunately our government cannot save and conserve heritage well. The new look and feel of the building has lost its historical taste, making it a nostalgic double rather than a historical scene.
